A home remodel had decimated the landscaping and the backyard was set lower than then neighbor’s creating a fish bowl that was uncomfortable to relax in. The clients had visions of recreating a former garden they loved.
The first priority was to create privacy and an inviting, comfortable place to relax and/or entertain. An arbor along two sides with hedge and privacy fence create the walls that complement the garage and house. A retaining wall enhances the enclosure and doubles as extra seating. Elements from their previous garden were interpreted including a stamped concrete patio. The seating wall is mirrored by a boxwood hedge and then filled with lush plants. The entry garden with a pool of lawn is dissected by a front walk which repeats the paving pattern in the back garden.
